Handling payment method revoked errors
Issue
The customer's profile or charge is showing an error that the Payment method was revoked.
Environment
Platform: Cross-platform
This issue may appear on all platforms but is most common for merchants using PayPal Express and/or Braintree to process their orders.
Click Customers > Order errors to view charge errors in the merchant portal. If you see the error Payment Method deleted via Shopify revoke event in the customer timeline, see Handling payment method deleted via Shopify revoke event.
Resolution
Payment method revoked indicates that the customer has blocked the payment on their end. This could be through PayPal by cancelling the billing agreement or through their credit card company. The customer should log in and add a new payment method to resolve or cancel this subscription and checkout with a new one using a different payment method.
The customer can log in to their customer portal and use the Payment methods page to update their payment information on file, as outlined in Instructions for your customers.
