The way product-specific discount codes behave depends on the type of discount code a customer applies to their order:
-
Fixed amount discount codes: A discount applied to an order in a specific dollar amount. The fixed-amount discount applies to the entire order.
- For example, if a customer added two $10 items to their order, their order total would be $20. If the customer applied a $5 fixed price discount to their order, the discounted order total would be $15, as the fixed price is deducted from the total order amount.
-
Percentage discount codes: A percentage-based discount that is applied to all quantities of the product in the order.
-
- For example, if a customer added two $10 items to their order, their order total would be $20. If the customer applied a 50%- percentage discount to their order, the discounted order total would be $10, as the percentage discount is applied to each individual product.
