How to configure upcoming order notification timing
Recharge sends upcoming order notifications before scheduled subscription orders to remind customers about their next renewal.
This guide explains how to change when customers receive upcoming order notifications and what happens after you update the notification timing.
Before you start
By default, Recharge sends upcoming order notifications three days before the scheduled charge date.
Recharge sends notification emails daily between 7:00 PM ET and 11:00 PM ET. The notification delivery window can't be changed.
If your store uses Klaviyo for upcoming order notifications, Recharge sends the upcoming charge events to Klaviyo between 1:00 PM ET and 4:00 PM ET. Klaviyo then controls when the notification is sent based on your flow configuration.
Step 1 - Update the notification timing
- In the Recharge merchant portal, click Email.
- Select Upcoming order email.
- Open the Settings tab.
Update Days before charge notification should be sent.
- Click Save settings.
Step 2 - Review prepaid shipment notifications (if applicable)
Recharge Support must update the notification timing for prepaid shipment notifications.
If you need to change when prepaid shipment notifications are sent, contact Recharge Support.
What happens after updating the notification timing?
When you change the notification window, Recharge queues notifications for customers who become eligible under the new timing.
For example:
If customers have scheduled orders 4–6 days from now and you change the notification timing from 3 days to 7 days, those customers become immediately eligible for an upcoming order notification and are queued for the next available notification batch.
The exact delivery time depends on whether the notification is sent by Recharge or Klaviyo.
