Confirming email notifications meet Google and Yahoo's deliverability standards
As of February 2024, Google and Yahoo began enforcing additional requirements to provide email receipts with a safer experience. These measures prevent spam and improve email security, requiring senders to prove they own the domain from which notifications are sent.
This article provides instructions for confirming your email notification settings match the deliverability standards set by Google and Yahoo.
Before you start

Updates for senders using Recharge notifications
Starting February 2024, Google no longer permits third-party senders, like Recharge, to send notifications from an @gmail.com
email address. To prevent the risk of Google mailboxes rejecting your emails, you must update the "from" email address used to send your subscription notifications to a domain that you own, ie. @examplestore.com
.
Recharge recommends all senders authenticate their custom domain. See Authenticating your custom domain for a step-by-step walkthrough of the authentication process.
Sender email requirements
Emails must pass DKIM, and DMARC verification via Google or Yahoo to meet the standards set. To pass the DMARC alignment check, sending domains must align with the from address domain. By default, emails sent from Recharge's regular sending domain (@rechargeapps.com
) do not meet this requirement.
See Authenticating your custom domain for a step-by-step walkthrough of the authentication process.

Sending notifications outside of Recharge
You must ensure that your notifications meet Google and Yahoo's deliverability standards if you send your subscription emails using a service outside of Recharge, ie. through Klaviyo, SendGrid, or a custom email integration.
See Google's blog post New Gmail protections or Yahoo's blog post Enforcing Email Standards for additional information on these standards to learn more, and work with your providers to ensure your notifications are compliant.
