Migr8 is a data extraction and formatting tool designed to automate and streamline the process of migrating customers and subscriptions to Recharge from other platforms. The tool uses API credentials from your legacy platform to retrieve customer and subscription data. Once the data has been retrieved, Migr8 transforms the data into a Recharge migration CSV template that can be uploaded, validated, and processed using the Recharge Bulk Actions migration tool.

This article covers how you can access Migr8, instructions for installing and using Migr8, supported platforms you can migrate from, and considerations when using this tool. 

Install Migr8

You must install the Migr8 integration in your Recharge merchant portal before you can use the tool:

1. Navigate to the Apps section in the Recharge merchant portal and click Marketplace.
   
2. Scroll down to find Migr8 and click Get. 
3. Review the information presented before selecting Install. 

Migrating to Recharge

Using Migr8

After installation, Migr8 retrieves your customer and subscription data from your legacy platform and modifies that data into a Recharge migration CSV template automatically. Every migration to Recharge that leverages Migr8 follows the same general sequence.

Obtain the API credentials from your existing platform, and then begin the migration process:

1. Navigate to the Apps section in the Recharge merchant portal, click Installed, and then select Migr8 from your apps.
   
2. Use the dropdown menu to select the platform you are migrating from.
   
3. Enter the API credentials (legacy platform and payment gateway as applicable) from your existing platform into the Migr8 tool and click Start.
   
4. Download the formatted CSV Migr8 creates using the download button in the Actions column.
5. Review the CSV file for accuracy and execute any updates to the CSV output as needed (ie. pricing updates, product updates, etc)
6. Upload the CSV to the Recharge Bulk Actions tool for validation and import. Resolve any validation warnings or errors if they occur. 
7. Process the import using the Bulk Actions tool after validating the file.
   • At this time, stores using the Shopify Checkout integration must work with the Recharge Migrations team for final import - this allows payment methods to be pushed to Shopify and processed in the Shopify Subscription Legacy gateway.  
   • When you’re ready for the final import, use Recharge's in-app support to reach out to the migrations team.

Currently, Migr8 supports data retrieval and formatting from the following platforms when migrating to Recharge:

• Smartrr
• WooCommerce

Bold v1

Required access credentials:

• Bold v1 API key (Bold advanced plan required) 
• Bold API “Handle”
• Payment gateway API token(s)

Bold v2

Required access credentials:

• Bold v2 API key

Smartrr

Required access credentials:

• Access token with read access to subscription, selling plan, product, and customer.

WooCommerce

Required access credentials:

• WooCommerce URL
• Consumer key
• Consumer secret

Beta formatters

The following formatters are in beta and have been used by the Migrations team in previous migrations. To access one of our beta formatters, install the Migr8 app on your store and contact Recharge Support.

Ordergroove

This “upload formatter” automates the data transfer from Ordergroove’s subscription export to the Recharge Migration template.

Stay.ai

This “upload formatter” automates the data transfer from Stay.ai’s subscription export to the Recharge Migration template.

Skio 

This "upload formatter” automates the data transfer from Skio’s subscription exports to the Recharge Migration template.

Migrating away from Recharge

These options can be enabled by request for stores moving customers and subscriptions from one Recharge account to another. Contact Recharge Support to get access. 

Using Migr8

After installation, Migr8 retrieves your customer and subscription data from your Recharge account and consolidates it into a single CSV file that can be used to prepare and import into a different Recharge account or subscription system. 

1. Navigate to the Apps section in the Recharge merchant portal and click Installed, then select Migr8 from your apps.
   
2. Use the dropdown menu to select your migration path.
   • Recharge to Recharge
   • Recharge to Shopify
     
3. Click Start.
4. Download the formatted CSV that Migr8 creates using the download button in the Actions column.
   
5. Review the CSV file for accuracy and execute any updates to the CSV output as needed (ie. pricing updates, product updates, etc) prior to use in a new Recharge account or another subscription tool.

Considerations

Review the following considerations when using the Migr8 tool: 

• Formatting for Bundles selections is not supported. 
• Early Adopter Program feature migration is not supported.
