Reward customers for their loyalty by building a Credits flow that sends customers credits at key stages of their customer journey.
This guide explains how to build a flow to issue credits to customers as a reward at different stages of their customer journey.
- Recharge Checkout on Shopify
- Shopify Checkout Integration
Before you start
- Credits empower you to retain customer value by offering credit for refunds, customer support resolutions, and more. See Credits for more information.
How it works
Use Recharge's prebuilt Credits template to maximize the customer experience. This template uses conditional branches to offer customers a specific credit percentage depending on the number of consecutive orders that have already been processed for a customer.
You can make changes to Recharge's prebuilt template before saving and activating your flow to best suit your business needs.
Step 1 - Create the flow
Create your Credits flow in the Recharge merchant portal:
- Click Retain in the merchant portal and select Rewards from the dropdown.
- Click Create from template under the Increasing cash back credits option to build an automatic Credits experience.
- Click Get started! to access the template.
Step 2 - Review the template
By default, the Credits template is configured to trigger on every single order. The template is based on streak numbers, and issues the following credit amounts:
- Customers who have received 1-4 consecutive orders: A credit amount of 2% of their order is applied to their account
- Customers who have received 5-8 consecutive orders: A credit amount of 3% of their order is applied to their account
- Customers who have received 9+ consecutive orders: A credit amount of 4% of their order is applied to their account
You can update the Trigger node to set customer conditions and define which customers should receive the credit, or you can keep the existing trigger rules to process the flow on every single order.
You can keep the credit amounts Recharge assigns to the template as is, or you click on each Credit node to change the credit amount.
You can keep Recharge's prebuilt notification, or click on the Notification node and change the notification to suit your brand and voice. Consider removing the existing Notification node and adding the Klaviyo node to send your notifications through Klaviyo.
Updating conditions
Recharge created the Credits template to maximize customer return, while also rewarding customers for their loyalty. Click the three vertical dot menu in the Conditional branch node to delete a specific branch, or add additional branches if you'd like to use a different method of applying credit to your customers' accounts.
You can also change the conditions if necessary. Click on the three vertical dot menu in the Conditional branch node and click the pencil icon next to the branch name to change the conditions customers must meet to enter a specific branch.
Click Apply to save any changes. See available conditions for additional information.
Step 3 - Manage settings
Click Manage settings to rename the expereince and add a description. You can also set the flow duration and run count limit. See Settings for additional details. These settings cannot be altered after activating the flow.
Step 4 - Save and activate the flow
Save the changes made to the flow template.
Click Activate Flow when you are ready to go live and apply credits to customer accounts.
