How to test a Recharge Quick Action URL included in a Klaviyo flow
Quick Action URLs provide customers with secure, personalized links to manage their subscriptions without needing to log in to their accounts. Recharge Quick Actions streamline the customer experience, empowering customers throughout their subscription lifecycle.
This guide explains how to test a Recharge Quick Action included in a Klaviyo flow.

- Migrated Shopify Checkout Integration
Before you start
Klaviyo’s preview option is not compatible with Quick Action URLs as Klaviyo cannot pull the necessary customer information when creating a preview email. Perform a test to confirm the Quick Action URL works properly before activating the flow.
Step 1 - Clone and update your existing Klaviyo flow
Recharge recommends cloning your Klaviyo flow and using the cloned version to test the customer experience. This prevents customers from accidentally entering the flow while you’re confirming its functionality.
- Navigate to your Klaviyo account and locate the flow you want to test.
- Clone the flow and assign it a name to distinguish it from the original flow.
- Set the flow status to manual. This prevents customers who enter the cloned flow from receiving automatic emails, as you must manually send the notification to customers.
- Open the cloned flow.
- Click on the Status drop-down menu on the notification card in the flow.
- Change the status of the message to Manual.
Step 2 - Trigger the Recharge metric in Klaviyo
Use a test customer account to perform the action that triggers the Recharge metric to start the Klaviyo flow. For example, to test a flow triggered by the "Subscription started on Recharge" metric, complete the checkout process to trigger the flow.
- Use your test customer account to perform the action that triggers the Recharge metric in your flow in a separate tab.
- Navigate back to Klaviyo and open the cloned flow.
Step 3 - Manually send the notification
Customers in a manual flow automatically appear under the Needs Review tab in the Klaviyo notification card. You must manually review the emails these customers receive, instead of customers automatically receiving notifications:
- Click on the notification card in the flow.
- Review the number of customers in the Needs Review status. There should be at least one customer in this group (your test customer).
- Click the performance metrics to open the Email details page.
- Select View details next to Performance.
- Click Recipient activity from the top navigation bar and select the Needs review status from the left-side navigation bar.
- Locate your customer, hover over their email address, and click Send Now to send the notification.
Step 4 - Review the notification
Test the Quick Action included in your notification:
- Open your email provider and review the Klaviyo notification. Check your spam folder if you can’t find the email.
- Click on the Quick Action URL in the notification.
- Enter the one-time verification code to complete the action.
- Review the success page to confirm the Quick Action worked successfully.
Preview the flow in Klaviyo
Preview the flow in Klaviyo to test the appearance and layout of the notification:
- Open your flow in Klaviyo.
- Select the three dots next to the email you wish to preview and click Edit Details.
- Select Edit.
- Select Edit email.
- Select the Preview & test button from the right-hand side navigation.
- Preview the email directly in Klaviyo.
- Optional - Send a test notification to yourself. Note that this method sends real customer data to the email address provided. Use caution with this method, as clicking a Quick Action URL affects the test customer account:
- Locate your test customer from the list of customers under Previewing with recent event.
- Click Send test and enter your email to send the notification to a specific email address.
