Getting started with the Upcoming order email
The Upcoming order email is a customizable flow that notifies customers about upcoming subscription orders and lets them take action directly from the email, without logging in to their customer portal.
This guide covers key features and explains how to set up and activate the flow.
- Shopify Checkout Integration
- Migrated Shopify Checkout Integration
- BigCommerce Checkout Integration
Key features
The Upcoming order email helps improve retention, increase average order value (AOV), and reduce support requests by making upcoming order notifications more actionable.
Quick actions
Customers can delay orders or add products directly from the email using one-click landing pages. Each action links to a landing page where customers confirm their update with a single click.
Cross-sell options
Use collections to display cross-sell products in your upcoming order email.
Show up to four products at a time, with products rotating dynamically.
Offer items as one-time purchases or subscriptions.
Apply optional discounts, including discounts that stack with existing subscription discounts.
Include products with quantity upsell plans to encourage higher-value add-ons.
Delay options
Offer preset delay options (for example, +7 or +14 days).
Enable a calendar view so customers can choose a specific future date.
Landing page customization
Customize all post-click experiences, such as the delay flow or add-to-order page, using the Site Builder to fully brand and tailor the experience to match your store’s look and feel.
Segment and target your customers
Use conditional branches to send personalized and relevant emails. Segment customers based on attributes such as:
Products they’re subscribed to
Number of processed subscription orders
Other subscription or customer data
You can send different email content, cross-sell offers, or discounts to each segment.
For more information, see Using customer segments with flows.
A/B testing and analytics
Use A/B testing and analytics to build segmented flows and monitor their performance after activation.
Add the A/B test node to the flow to send customers down two random paths, each configured with different upcoming order emails.
