Converting a subscription from prepaid to monthly
To convert a prepaid subscription to a monthly subscription, you will need to cancel the prepaid subscription and manually switch to a monthly subscription. This guide takes you through converting a subscription from prepaid to monthly.
Step 1 - Cancel the prepaid subscription
You will first need to cancel the prepaid subscriptions to ensure your customer is not charged if the subscriptions are configured to renew.
To cancel the prepaid subscription:
- In the Recharge merchant portal, select Customers and then click Customers.
- Search for and select your specific customer.
- Click on the customer's name to open their Subscription Details page.
- Hover over the subscription to open the three vertical dots menu.
- Click Cancel subscription.
Step 2 (Optional)- Cancel any remaining shipments
Canceling a prepaid subscription does not automatically cancel the queued shipment orders. You must complete an additional step to cancel the queued orders in the current billing cycle.

Step 3 - Add the monthly subscription
Add the new monthly subscription to the customer's account.
- On the customer's Subscription Details page, locate the address where you would like to add a product.
- If the customer has other existing products, select Add Product. If the address does not already have any other products, select Add Subscription.
- On the following page, search for and select the subscription product to be added to the upcoming order.
- You can Edit subscription details to change frequency, price, plan type or variants.
- Set the charge date if necessary.
- Click Add product.
