Setting up automatic plan syncing for dynamic bundles
The Automatic Bundle Plans Sync feature streamlines the Dynamic Bundle setup by applying your parent bundle-level subscription settings to all eligible child products. You only need to set your frequencies and discounts once to ensure that each product automatically inherits those plans.
This guide provides information on the Automatic Bundle Plans Sync setting, currently available through the Early Adopter Program.

Before you start
This feature is off by default. You can turn it on yourself from the Bundles page in the Recharge merchant portal.
Eligibility
-
You must use Variant-Level Plans to use this feature.
You can easily upgrade to Variant Level Plans directly in the Recharge merchant portal, at no additional cost.
How it works
With this feature, you no longer need to create or manage individual subscription plans for the child products included in a dynamic bundle. Instead, you set your frequencies and discounts once at the parent bundle level, and all eligible child products automatically inherit those plans. This makes setup significantly faster and ensures consistent offerings across your bundle.
Recharge displays bundle-level plans on each product page in the portal, so you can confirm which plans apply to each child product. These plans are used only when customers purchase the product as part of a bundle. They do not appear on storefront product pages, preventing customers from purchasing items individually with bundle-specific plans.
When you update the bundle configuration (for example, adjusting plan frequencies or adding or removing products), Recharge automatically syncs these changes across all child products in the Shopify collection.
If you update products directly in Shopify or modify the collection linked to the bundle, you’ll need to sync those changes manually in your Recharge merchant portal.
Enabling automatic plan syncing
You can enable this feature from the Bundles page.
- In the merchant portal, click Products > Bundles.
-
Locate the opt-in banner and click Activate automatic bundle plans sync.
To turn the feature off or back on later, use the Tools tab:
- Click Products and select Bundles in the merchant portal.
- Select the Tools tab.
-
Toggle the automatic plan syncing on or off.
Automatic vs. manual syncs
The Automatic Bundles Plan Sync tool runs automatically in most cases, but you may need to manually trigger a sync in some cases.
Automatic syncs
Recharge automatically syncs Bundles subscription plans in the following scenarios:
- When you configure purchase options, such as frequencies or discounts, when creating a Bundle
- In this case, Recharge automatically syncs all Shopify collections linked to the dynamic bundle
- If you add or remove frequencies, or update discounts at the bundle level
- In this case, saving your changes automatically re-syncs all eligible products
Manual syncs
You must manually sync products when you:
- Add or remove products from the Shopify collection used by the bundle
- Add or remove Shopify collections from the bundles settings
Perform the bundles sync
Use the sync tool after adding products to a collection in Shopify to keep your bundles collections up to date:
- Click Products and select Bundles in the merchant portal.
- Select a bundle from the list on the Bundles overview page.
- Click Sync products under Contents.
Migrating existing dynamic bundles
All newly created dynamic bundles automatically sync after installing the Automatic Bundles Plan Sync.
Dynamic bundles created before installing the Automatic Bundles Plan Sync will continue to use legacy subscription plans. You can migrate existing dynamic bundles away from legacy plans to the Automatic Bundles Plan Sync. Migration occurs when you:
- Manually click Sync products on the bundle Review page, or
- Update the bundle's subscription plans (for example, by adding or removing frequencies or changing discounts) and save those updates
Deleting legacy subscription plans for existing dynamic bundles
After migrating to the new tool, all products in the bundle's Shopify collections automatically inherit the bundle-level subscription plans.
After you migrate to the Automatic Bundles Plan Sync, any legacy plans previously configured directly on individual products remain in place.
You can keep legacy plans without breaking your bundles; however, Recharge recommends deleting them to prevent plans from appearing as standalone purchase options on product pages. Cleanup is optional, but it helps keep your setup simpler and easier to manage.
You can delete a legacy plan from the bundle summary page:
- Select Products and click Bundles in the Recharge merchant portal.
- Click on the dynamic bundle to open the bundle summary page.
- Click Edit next to Subscription options.
- Click the vertical three-dot menu next to the legacy plan listed under Subscription plans.
- Choose delete plan to remove the legacy plan.
