Using the Bulk Updater Tool
The Bulk Updater tool allows you to bulk update existing subscriptions. You can use this tool to update product titles, variant titles, or prices in Recharge. This guide provides instructions on how to enable the tool, search for products to update, use the Bulk paste IDs feature, and submit bulk update changes.

Before you start
- Refer to Bulk managing subscriptions if you are a BigCommerce merchant and want to perform bulk updates directly in the merchant portal.
- You can only use this tool to update recurring prices, quantities, and external IDs on the Shopify Checkout Integration. To update other parameters in bulk, see Bulk Management tools.

Access the tool
- In the merchant portal, click Tools & apps and select Apps marketplace.
- Locate the Recharge Bulk Updater card and click Get.
Bulk update using the search feature
The Bulk Updater tool has a built-in product search feature that allows you to search for specific products and perform bulk updates based on the search criteria.
- In the merchant portal, click Installed apps under the Tools & apps section and select Bulk Updater by Recharge.
- In the dropdown, select the search parameter you would like to use. In the search field, enter your search term. You can locate products using the following parameters:
- Product title
- Variant title
- Recurring price
- SKU
- Click Find products.
- Select Export data to create a backup file for the bulk update.
- In the select property dropdown select Recurring price, Quantity, and/or External Variant Id.
- In the property field, enter the new information for update.
- Select Process update to begin the update.
- A pop-up model will appear displaying a summary of changes about to be made. Click Make update after reviewing the list of changes. This process can take a few minutes depending on how many products need updating.
Bulk update using the Bulk paste IDs feature
The Bulk Updater tool has a Bulk paste IDs feature. With this feature, you can paste subscription IDs into the tool and perform bulk updates for groups of subscriptions. This tool is useful when you want to perform a bulk update for all customers or a specific cohort of customers. Prices should be in North American format: no spaces and two decimal places.
- Export Subscriptions - All or Subscriptions - Active from the Data section in the merchant portal.
- Sort the CSV file and delete any rows to exclude from the bulk update.
- In the merchant portal, click Apps, select Bulk Updater by Recharge and click Bulk paste IDs.
- Copy and paste the Subscription IDs from the Subscriptions - All CSV file into the tool, ensuring each ID is on its own line. IDs do not need to be separated by commas.
- Click Find subscriptions and select Export data on the pop-up window to download a copy of the bulk update data in the event you need to reverse changes.
- In the select property dropdown select Recurring price, Quantity and/or External Variant Id.
- In the property field, enter the new information for update.
- Select Process update to begin the update.
- A pop-up model will appear displaying a summary of changes about to be made. Click Make update after reviewing the list of changes. This process can take a few minutes depending on how many products need updating.

Prepaid subscriptions |
The Bulk Updater tool is not compatible with prepaid subscriptions. If you need to update a prepaid subscription mid-cycle, see changing variants or products for prepaid subscriptions or contact the Recharge support team to update in bulk. |
Changes to the product and variant titles |
If a variant or product title is changed within Recharge, the change is not reflected in Shopify, as Shopify uses product information stored on their side. |
