Converting a subscription from monthly to prepaid

To convert a subscription from monthly to prepaid, you will need to adjust the charge as well as the shipping frequency, and add the upcoming $0.00 orders. This guide takes you through converting a subscription from monthly to prepaid. 

Step 1 - Confirm the price before converting

Confirm whether a price change is needed before converting the monthly to a prepaid subscription. The price of the product should reflect the total cost of all the shipments upfront instead of by a month, such as converting the monthly price over to a yearly prepaid.

Adjust the charge itself to ensure the new charge date reflects the correct price.

1. Click Customers in the merchant portal and select Customers from the dropdown to open the Customer details page.
2. Search for and select the customer.
3. Hover over the subscription that needs updating and click the three vertical dots menu.
4. Select Edit subscription product.
5. Enter the new Recurring price and click Save product.

If no change is needed or you have already made adjustments, proceed to step 2.

Step 2 - Update the order schedule

1. Hover over the subscription that needs updating and click the three vertical dots menu.
2. Select Edit frequency.
3. Select This is a prepaid subscription and enter the shipping and charge intervals.
4. Click Save.

Step 3 - Confirm the order shipments 

1. Locate the upcoming order containing the new prepaid product under Upcoming orders.
2. Confirm that the charge has multiple shipments scheduled that match the prepaid frequency set in Step 2.
