In some cases, you may need the order number your customer is set to receive in the next shipping cycle of their subscription. This feature can add a message with the current order number for a given shipping address as part of the order notes sent to Shopify. The message can also be found in the exports from both Recharge and Shopify

In addition to being useful for reporting purposes, this feature can also be beneficial in sending data from the note to third-party app fulfillment systems.

Before you start

Enabling order sequence numbers regenerates all queued charges and prepaid orders. Depending on the number of queued charges your store has, the regeneration may take some time. 

Enable order sequence numbers

1. From the merchant portal, click Settings and select Order processing.
2. Click the checkbox for Apply a note for order subscription type.

By default, the text will read next order in sequence and include a variable,  {purchase_order_count_plus_one}, which will be replaced with the actual order count. If you prefer to not have the order count added, update the text and remove the variable.

Locate order sequence numbers

Once the feature is enabled on your Recharge account, the order number populates in several different areas within both Shopify and Recharge.

Shopify

When the order is created in Shopify, the order number will populate in the Note section within the Order details.

You can also export a copy of your orders in Shopify and view the order sequence number in the Notes column.

Recharge

The order sequence number will also populate into one of the columns in your queued orders export in Recharge. To download a copy of your report:

1. In the merchant portal, click Tools & apps and select Exports from the dropdown. 
2. Click Create export and select the Charges - Queued CSV from the dropdown. 
3. Enter your date range and email address to receive the CSV, and click Create export. 

The order sequence number can be found in the exported CSV file under the column labeled note.
