Using Recharge with other platforms
The Recharge platform is compatible with Shopify and BigCommerce. If you would like to use Recharge with other ecommerce sites, you must use your ecommerce storefront or custom code. This guide provides an overview of compatibility and suggested solutions.
Compatibility with Shopify
Recharge seamlessly integrates with Shopify. When a customer makes a subscription purchase, parameters are passed to the cart page that signal the product in the cart is a recurring subscription.
At this time, Recharge works with Shopify's Online Store sales channel. Other sales channels, such as Facebook, point-of-sale, and Buy Button, are not currently compatible.
The Recharge checkout platform your store is on differs depending on when you first installed Recharge.
Recharge Checkout on Shopify
Shopify merchants who installed Recharge on or before November 1st, 2020, utilize the Recharge Checkout on Shopify to process subscriptions. The Recharge Checkout is fully featured and will continue to be supported as we develop new integrations. Learn more about how the Recharge-hosted checkout works with Shopify.
Shopify Checkout Integration
Shopify merchants who installed Recharge after November 1st, 2020, utilize the Shopify Checkout Integration to process their subscription orders. The Shopify Checkout Integration is a unified checkout experience that provides a seamless shopping experience for your customers.
If you are using the Recharge Checkout on Shopify and wish to convert to the Shopify Checkout Integration, see Converting from Recharge Checkout on Shopify to the Shopify Checkout Integration.
Compatibility with BigCommerce
Merchants on BigCommerce have access to the Recharge Checkout on BigCommerce integration and the BigCommerce Checkout Integration. For more information refer to:

Compatibility with other sites
The Recharge app only works out-of-the-box on Shopify or BigCommerce storefronts. It does not integrate with websites such as Facebook, WordPress, Squarespace, or other ecommerce websites.
If you use Shopify or BigCommerce and want to promote subscription products on your Facebook page or your WordPress website, we recommend linking directly to the subscription products on your storefront. This allows customers to navigate to your site to place their subscription orders via the Recharge Checkout or the Shopify Checkout.
If you are using another ecommerce platform and are interested in building a custom integration, refer to Develop a custom integration with Recharge.
Add subscription links from external landing pages
Although Recharge does not integrate directly with Shopify's Buy Button, you can create your own version using custom code. Using Ajax, you can link customers directly to the checkout with a subscription product in the cart. To achieve this solution, combine the directions from the following guides:
Develop a custom integration with Recharge
You can build your own custom Recharge integration if you require compatibility with an unsupported ecommerce platform. Recharge can also incorporate with your existing enterprise resource planning or product information management software with custom code. Learn more by visiting our API Reference and Developer Docs.
