ARPU
ARPU helps Recharge merchants enhance their upcoming order email notifications. Using ARPU, merchants can create custom email campaigns, add 2-click upsells to increase Average Order Value (AOV), add product swaps, and simplify the charge delay process. See ARPU's Features page for more details.
This guide provides an overview of ARPU, instructions for enabling the integration, using its features, and support resources.

Enable ARPU
- Create an ARPU account.
- Sign in to ARPU and launch the ARPU dashboard.
- Click the Setup Guide button from the navigation menu.
- Connect ARPU with your ecommerce platform by following the prompts in the guide.
- Connect ARPU with Recharge by following the prompts in the guide.
- Following the remaining steps in the Setup Guide, add your products to ARPU, and complete the onboarding process.
- Click Enable from the status indicator box if you would like to launch your ARPU integration right away.
After completing the Setup Guide, ARPU automatically connects to your store. ARPU will start to sync your product information from your ecommerce platform and upcoming subscription orders from Recharge. It may take a few hours for this process to finish.
Design your upcoming order email
To use an existing Subscription upcoming charge email notification from Recharge, refer to the following steps:
- In the Recharge merchant portal, click Settings and select Notifications.
- Open the Subscription upcoming charge notifications.
- Copy the contents from the Email message textbox.
- In the ARPU dashboard, click Settings and select Email Templates.
- Click Create email template and name the template Upcoming order email.
- Paste the contents from your Recharge notification in the Email template textbox. If you have a developer that is familiar with HTML, you can customize the email template further with HTML and CSS. If you do not have a developer, contact ARPU for support.
- Click Save changes to save the email template.
If you do not have an existing stylized Subscription upcoming charge email template in Recharge, ARPU can provide a free template that matches your store's branding. Contact ARPU for support and provide one to three business days for the template to be customized.
Configure the 2-click charge delay feature
Add the {{delay_shipment_link}}
variable to your ARPU upcoming order email template to configure this feature:
- In the ARPU dashboard, click Settings and select Email templates.
- Open your Upcoming order email template.
- Click What variables are available? for a list of variables.
- Copy and paste the
{{delay_shipment_link}}
variable into your email template. - Click Save changes to save the template.
- Click Settings from the navigation menu and select Delay Settings. Delay Settings control the behavior of the 2-click charge delay feature.
- Follow the prompts to customize the 2-click charge delay feature.
- Click Save Changes to save the 2-click charge delay settings.
Preview your email templates
You can preview your email templates to verify that your customizations and variables are working as expected. To preview an email template, click Settings and select Email Templates. Select the email template that you would like to preview and view the preview next to the template fields.
ARPU Analytics
ARPU has a built-in Analytics feature to help merchants track revenue, click rates, emails sent, open rates, and conversion rates. All data values are based on last-click attribution.
To narrow data down to the customer level, click Download Email Date to launch the export tool. Use the export tool to create CSV exports of your Analytics data.
