Recharge collections overview
Use Recharge Collections to group and organize your subscription products into collections.
This guide provides an overview of how to use Recharge collections.
Overview
Use Recharge collections to group and manage your subscription products within the Recharge merchant portal. Collections allow you to organize products for internal management, control which products customers can add or swap in the customer portal, and apply bulk subscription property updates (for eligible merchants).
You can assign collections to your customer portal to limit cross-sell and swap options, and use them to prepare for promotions, seasonal launches, or product rollouts. Collections help you manage product availability and subscription settings at scale without updating each product individually.
Currently, products within collections are sorted alphabetically.
Create a collection
Create a collection of products in your Recharge merchant portal:
- In the merchant portal, click Products and select Collections.
- Click Add collection.
- Give your new collection a Name and, optionally, a Description, and click Create collection.
- In the Products section, click Add products.
- In the following pop-up, click the checkbox next to all products you want to include in your collection, and click Add products.
- Click Save.
Add or remove products from a collection
You can add the same product to multiple collections. The maximum number of products that you can add to a collection is 10,000.
To add a product to a collection, the product must be available for purchase in Recharge. This means the product must either:
- Have an active subscription plan, or
- Have the One-time purchase option enabled.
If a product does not have a subscription plan or the One-time option is not enabled, it will not appear as available when adding products to a collection. To make the product eligible, update the purchase options first. See Product Subscription Plans for detailed instructions.
- In the merchant portal, click Products and select Collections.
- Click on the name of the collection you want to modify.
- Use the Products section to add or remove products.
- To add: click the Add products button and select all the products you wish to add. Select Add product.
- To remove: select all of the products you wish to remove and click the Actions dropdown. Select Remove from collection.
- Click Save.
Use collections to limit available products in the customer portal
You can use collections to limit the products customers can add to upcoming orders in their customer portal.
- In the merchant portal, click Storefront and select Customer portal.
- Locate the Which products can customers add to their order or swap to under Cross-sells and swaps.
- Select Only products from a specific Recharge collection.
- Click Select collections to choose which collections you'd like to use.
- Click Save.
Bulk update subscription properties within a collection
You can bulk update the subscription properties for all products within the collection, this includes:
- Subscription types
- Ship and charge frequencies
- Number of charges until expiration
- Subscribe and Save discounts
Bulk updating subscription properties applies to all products in the collection and affects all subscription property settings. You cannot bulk-update specific products in a collection or update only specific property settings. Additionally, you cannot bulk update inactive products in a collection.
Bulk update collection
- In the merchant portal, click Products and select Collections.
- Click on the collection you would like to update.
- In the Actions panel, select Bulk update subscription properties.
- On the following page, adjust the subscription property settings.
- Click Next.
- On the Confirm update page, review the changes and click Update products.
