"You have reached the limit of tiered discounts that apply at checkout" error

Issue

You received the message "You've reached the limit of tiered discounts that apply at checkout".

Environment

Cause

This message appears when you’ve reached the maximum number of tiered discounts that can be activated in your store. There isn’t a fixed limit on the number of tiered discounts you can create. The total number you can activate depends on the complexity of your discounts, including:

• The number of tiers in each discount
• Whether the discount applies to dynamic bundles, products, or collections
• Cart size and how Shopify processes the discount logic

Most stores can activate a max of 25 tiered discounts, depending on how they’re configured. Discounts with more tiers or more complex configurations reach the limit more quickly.

Bundle/product tiered discounts and collection tiered discounts have separate limits. For example:

• If you reach the limit for bundle or product tiered discounts, you can still activate additional collection tiered discounts.
• If you reach the limit for collection tiered discounts, you can still activate additional bundle or product tiered discounts.

Resolution

If you see this error, review your existing active tiered discounts and deactivate any that are no longer needed before creating a new one.
