Compare Recharge Multi-currency and Shopify Markets Early Adopter Program
Shopify Markets lets you sell to customers in different regions using localized currencies, pricing, and product availability.
Recharge offers two ways to support stores using Shopify Markets:
- Recharge Multi-currency: The default experience for stores using multiple currencies in Shopify through Shopify Markets.
- Shopify Markets Early Adopter Program: An expanded experience that supports Shopify Markets pricing and product availability across eligible Recharge features.
This guide explains the difference between Recharge Multi-currency and the Shopify Markets Early Adopter Program.
Before you start
- You must enable Shopify Markets in Shopify to use multiple currencies with Recharge.
- Multi-currency is enabled automatically in Recharge after you activate Shopify Markets.
- Shopify Markets pricing and availability support is available through Recharge’s Shopify Markets Early Adopter Program.

How Recharge Multi-currency works
If you enable multiple currencies in Shopify through Shopify Markets, but do not join Recharge’s Shopify Markets Early Adopter Program, Recharge supports standard multi-currency behavior.
With Recharge Multi-currency:
- Customers can check out in their local currency.
- Customers continue to be charged in the same currency used at checkout.
- Recharge uses currency conversion when customers or merchants add or swap products.
- Some Recharge features are not compatible with multi-currency.
- Shopify Markets pricing and product availability rules are not fully supported across Recharge features.

How the Shopify Markets Early Adopter Program works
When the Shopify Markets Early Adopter Program is enabled, Recharge supports Shopify Markets pricing and availability rules across major subscription flows.
With the Shopify Markets Early Adopter Program, Recharge can:
- Use Shopify Markets pricing for supported Recharge features.
- Use Shopify Markets product availability rules.
- Detect the correct Market based on the customer’s shipping address.
- Support fixed pricing, manual exchange rates, dynamic exchange rates, rounding rules, and Shopify conversion fees.
- Apply localized pricing and availability across supported customer and merchant subscription actions.
