Shopify POS subscriptions Early Adopter Program
Recharge on Shopify POS lets your retail staff sell and manage subscriptions directly at the point of sale. Staff can enroll customers into recurring subscriptions at checkout, select selling plans, and capture payment details without relying on QR codes or email follow-ups. Subscription contracts are created natively within Shopify's POS flow, so future orders are automated from the moment of purchase.
This guide covers how Recharge on Shopify POS works, key features, and how to get started.

How it works
Recharge on Shopify POS is a native integration built on Shopify's POS extensibility framework. When retail staff add an eligible product to the cart, they can configure it as a subscription and select a selling plan before completing the transaction, without switching to a separate flow or device.
Subscription contracts are created directly within POS at the moment of sale. Future orders are automated and managed through Recharge alongside your online subscriptions. You can choose whether the first order is fulfilled in-store or shipped to the customer's address, with all subsequent orders shipped automatically.
Key features
Add subscriptions directly at checkout
When staff select a product, they can choose to add it to the cart as a subscription via Recharge's extension or as a one-time purchase via Shopify's standard flow. Both options are available in the same transaction, without needing to switch flows or devices.
Configure subscription details in real time
Staff can configure subscription options during checkout, including selecting the appropriate selling plan before completing the transaction. No separate enrollment flow is required.
Quick action subscription buttons
You can work with the Recharge team to configure purpose-built quick action buttons that let staff instantly add a single subscription product to the cart or select from preset subscription products. This reduces friction and minimizes clicks at busy registers.
Real-time customer and order tracking
Subscription customers and orders created through Shopify POS are captured and tracked in real time, giving you visibility into in-store subscription performance alongside your online subscription data in Recharge.
Flexible fulfillment options
You can choose how orders are fulfilled. The options are:
- Fulfill the first order in store and automatically ship all future recurring orders.
- Ship all orders, including the first, to the customer's address.
