How to include a preset bundle in a customizable bundle

Nested bundles let you include a preset bundle as a selectable item within a customizable bundle. When a customer selects the preset bundle, its contents are automatically included in each order and renewal, and pricing is managed at the parent bundle level.

This guide explains how nested bundles work and what to consider when using them.

Before you start

• The parent bundle must be a customizable bundle. You can nest preset bundles in both dynamically-priced and fixed-price customizable bundles.

Add a preset bundle to a customizable bundle

To make a preset bundle selectable in a customizable bundle, add the preset bundle's parent product to a Shopify collection configured to the customizable bundle. No additional configuration is required.

The preset bundle's parent product must have subscription rules that match the customizable bundle's subscription type and frequency, as with any other product in the collection.

How nested bundles appear on orders

When a customer selects a nested preset bundle:

• The preset bundle's contents are added to the Shopify order via an order edit. The contents appear on the Shopify order only and are not visible in the Recharge merchant portal or customer portal.
• The contents are added at no additional charge. The customer is charged the parent bundle's price, which includes the preset bundle as a line item.

Nested bundles are supported across the Bundle widget, merchant portal, and customer portal, and on both checkout and recurring orders.
