Charge reminder setting
Charge reminder notifications are a key component of subscription management. Customers expect to be notified of upcoming charges so they can manage their subscriptions. If a customer is not notified in advance of an upcoming charge, it can impact the customer experience.
By default, the Charge reminder setting is enabled and locked. Enabling this setting sends your customers a Charge reminder SMS notification three days in advance of their next upcoming order. This provides the customer with time to make changes to their subscription.
If you would like to disable this setting:
- Click the lock icon to unlock the setting.
- Click Continue in the pop-up modal.
- Click the toggle to disable the setting.
- Click Confirm in the second modal to verify the setting should be turned off.
If you previously had this setting disabled and would like to enable it, click the toggle.
Charge reminder Messaging Update status
If you have disabled the Charge reminder setting, you may see this Messaging Update status in your Messaging status indicator bar:
This Messaging Update status warns that leaving this setting disabled can negatively impact the customer experience. Click Take me there, to view the RechargeSMS settings page where you can enable the Charge reminder setting.
SMS Contact Card setting
Enabling the SMS Contact Card setting sends new customers your shop's name, email, website, logo, and phone number in an easy-to-save contact card. Customers can use this contact card to save your store as a contact on their phone. Enable the setting from the RechargeSMS settings page:
- From the RechargeSMS navigation menu, click Settings.
- Open Concierge Features and enable Send SMS Welcome message. This setting must be enabled to use the SMS Contact Card setting.
- Click the Send SMS Contact Card toggle.
-
Use the pop-up modal to customize your store's SMS Contact Card.
- Click Confirm to save the SMS Contact Card settings.
The customer receives the Welcome message first and the SMS Contact Card message as a follow-up. The SMS Contact Card file is sent as an attachment to the message. To test the feature, you will need to create and opt-in a new test customer with an unused phone number. For more details, see Testing RechargeSMS.
Note: The SMS Contact Card message cannot be sent to existing customers in RechargeSMS. This message can only be sent to new customers who receive the Welcome message.
See the SMS Contact Card message template for a preview of the default SMS Contact Card message. You can change the default verbiage of the SMS Contact Card message by editing the message template. See Managing SMS messages in RechargeSMS for information on editing message templates.
Batch actions
If your store sells bundled subscriptions, it is recommended to enable Batch Actions. Batch Actions limit functionality so that SMS messaging does not break bundles. Customers are limited to viewing subscription information, skipping, and delaying. For more information on using RechargeSMS with bundled subscriptions, see Managing products in RechargeSMS.
Advanced settings
You can view and set your store’s contact information and control functionality settings on the Advanced settings page.
To access the Advanced settings page:
- From the RechargeSMS dashboard click Settings.
- Click Advanced from the dropdown menu.
Your store’s assigned RechargeSMS phone number displays at the top of the Advanced settings page. This is the phone number that your customers receive SMS messages from.
Store Email
To set a Preferred Store Email, toggle on the feature and confirm your store’s Support Email address. This is the email address that customers will contact if they need further support using your SMS service.
Functionality
Functionality settings allow you to:
- Define the max number of days a next charge date can be updated to. Leave this blank if you wish to have an infinite number of days.
- Set the timeframe for when messages are allowed to be sent. For example, some merchants prefer to only send messages after 5 pm. This timeframe applies to the customer's timezone.
- Set the max order price. The default setting is $1000.
Emails
On the Emails setting page, you can enable SMS-related email notifications and customize the branding of those emails. There are three email notifications you can enable:
- Enable Charge Reminder Email Fallback: Sends your customers an email in the case the charge reminder SMS message is not delivered to them.
- Enable Opt-Out Email Notifications: Sends your customer an opt-out confirmation email when they reply “stop” to opt-out of SMS messages.
- Send Emails to Unreachable Headsets: Sends your customer an email to notify them that their saved phone number is unreachable by SMS.
Click the toggle to enable an email notification option.
To view the contents of and/or edit an email notification, click on the pencil icon next to the email's name. Click Preview to have a test email notification sent to the store owner's email address or click Save to save any changes.
