Handling missing payment method errors
Issue
The customer's profile or charge is showing an error that the payment method is not found or payment method missing.
Environment
This issue may appear on all platforms, but is most common for merchants migrating to Recharge from another platform.
Click Customers > Order errors to view charge errors in the merchant portal.
Resolution
Missing payment method indicates that the customer has not yet added a payment method or there was an error in configuring their payment method.
Shopify Checkout
If you have Frictionless payment method updates enabled, customers can add a new payment method through Recharge to resolve the issue. Otherwise, they will have to cancel the subscription and go through checkout again using a different payment method.
BigCommerce
Customers can add a payment method through the customer portal. See Update your billing information.
