State or province required error when updating an address

Issue

When you try to update an address in Recharge, you will get a province/state required error if Recharge requires this field.

In North America, shipping typically requires a state or province, but in some countries, mailing is optional. Address field discrepancies can arise between Shopify and Recharge when the Google address API removes the state/province field and returns an empty value to Recharge.

To update the address, follow these instructions in the Recharge merchant or customer portal:

1. Select the correct province or state from the dropdown field.
2. Save the changes to apply the updated address.
3. Ensure that the state or province field is not left blank to avoid errors. If you are unsure what is correct, do a web search of the address to determine the correct state or province.
