Why am I getting a "province/state required" error when I try to update an address?

When you try to update an address in Recharge, you will get a province/state required error if Recharge requires this field.
In North America, shipping typically requires a state or province, but for some countries, this is optional for mailing. Address field discrepancies can arise between Shopify and Recharge when the Google address API from Shopify removes and then returns an empty state/province field to Recharge.

Resolution
To update the address, follow these instructions in the Recharge merchant or customer portal; make sure to:

Select the correct province or state from the dropdown field.

Save the changes to apply the updated address.

Ensure that the state or province field is not left blank to avoid errors. If you are unsure what is correct, do a web search of the address to determine the correct state or province.
