Enabling the pause subscription feature
The pause subscription feature in the customer portal allows customers to pause their subscriptions and gives you control over pause interval options.
This guide explains how the feature works, and how you can enable it in your store.
Before you start
- For instructions on using the feature to pause subscriptions from the customer portal, see Instructions for your customers.
- This guide applies only to merchants using the Affinity customer portal. The pause subscription feature is not supported in the Unity customer portal theme.
Overview
Give customers the option to pause their subscriptions before they cancel. When enabled, this feature appears when a customer goes to cancel their subscription. If a customer chooses Cancel Subscription in the customer portal, a prompt offers the option to Pause Subscription instead. The customer can choose to either pause or cancel the subscription.
Enable the pause subscription option
Enable the pause subscription option in your merchant portal:
- In the merchant portal, click Storefront, then select Customer portal.
- Navigate to the Cancellation and customer retention settings and enable the option to Show customers three pause duration options as a step before cancellation.
- Edit your pause duration options. Options include Day, Week, or Month.
- Click Apply.
- Click Save.
After saving this option, customers who try to cancel their subscription will first be prompted to pause it. Customers select how long to pause the subscription from the duration options you set. If a customer decides not to pause their subscription, they can still cancel.
