Issue
An order was successfully processed even though the customer's card was expired.

Resolution
Orders may process successfully on expired cards for several reasons. For further investigation into why an expired card was processed contact your payment gateway or have the customer contact their bank directly.
Approval is determined by the bank and the payment processor.
Banks and payment processors control if a card is accepted or declined. Recharge only attempts the charge, the bank and payment processor determine if it is successful.
Automatic card updater enabled
Your store may have enabled the card auto updater for Shopify Payments in Shopify. This feature updates saved card details automatically when customers receive new cards.
Recurring payments are still honored by banks
Some banks will approve charges on expired cards if they recognize them as recurring subscription payments. In these cases, the card acts more as a customer identifier.
