How to edit Automate flows using flow versioning
Flow versioning lets you edit an automated flow after it’s been activated. Each time you save changes, Recharge creates a new version of the flow, allowing you to update your logic without rebuilding the flow from scratch.
This guide explains how flow versioning works, what happens when you edit a flow, and important considerations to keep in mind.

How it works
When you edit an automated flow and save your changes, Recharge creates a new version of the flow. Each saved change creates a new version.
How the version behaves depends on the flow’s status:
- Active flow: Saving changes creates a new version and automatically makes it live
- Inactive flow: Saving changes creates a new version that remains inactive until you activate it
If a flow has never been activated, saving changes won’t create a new version. The flow will remain a single, inactive draft until it’s activated for the first time.
Note: Analytics reset for each new version. For Automate, this includes the run count.
How to edit an automated flow
To edit an automated flow using flow versioning:
- In the merchant portal, click Products, then select Automate.
- Locate the automated flow you want to update.
- Select the flow to open the canvas.
- Make your changes directly on the canvas.
- Click Save in the top-right corner.
If the flow is active, the new version goes live immediately. If the flow is inactive, the new version stays inactive until you activate it.
View flow versions
Flow versions are managed automatically by Recharge. You don’t need to create or name versions manually.
Open a flow in the Recharge merchant portal and select the version drop-down menu to see the available flow versions.
When viewing a flow, you’ll see the most recent version by default; however, older versions remain available for reference.
