How it works
Whether you can edit a Failed Payment Recovery strategy depends on its status:
- Draft strategies: You can edit settings and notifications directly on the flow canvas at any time before activating.
- Active strategies: Settings and notifications are locked once a strategy is activated, and can't be edited even if you later deactivate it. If you need to update an active strategy, you'll need to duplicate the existing flow or create a new strategy with your changes, activate it, and then deactivate the original.
Editing a draft strategy
You can update a strategy's general settings and individual notifications any time before it's activated. What the editing experience looks like depends on how far along your strategy setup is. If you haven't added notifications yet, you'll see the settings form and can follow How to create a Failed Payment Recovery strategy.
If you got further than the notification step, you can edit directly in the flow builder:
- Click Churn tools in the merchant portal and select Failed Payment Recovery.
- Under Your strategies, click the name of the draft strategy you want to edit.
- Click Manage settings to update settings that apply to the whole strategy, such as the sender name, logo, or where the payment update button directs customers.
- To edit a specific notification, click the notification node on the flow canvas. This opens the Configure email notification panel.
- Update the language, sender name and email, and subject line as needed.
- Click Edit email body to open the notification editor, make your changes, and click Done to save.
- Optional - Select Display your logo on this email template and add your logo URL, alt text, and alignment.
- Click Preview notification to review the notification from the customer's perspective.
- Click Apply to save your changes to that notification.
-
Repeat these steps for any other notifications you want to update, then click Save on the flow canvas to save your changes to the strategy.
