Can I move my current customers from one store to another store?
The ability to migrate your customers from one store to another depends on your store's platform.
Recharge Checkout on BigCommerce
Recharge Checkout on BigCommerce stores are able to migrate customers from a current store to another. To do so, copy your data into our migration template and follow the migrating to Recharge guide for the steps to import.
Shopify Checkout Integration
Recharge cannot move the customer payment data from one Shopify store to another. If this is something you would like to inquire about doing, see Shopify's Payment Migration Services doc and contact Shopify's Support team directly. Refer to Migrating legacy payment methods directly into Shopify Payments using PAN migrations.
For Shopify Checkout Integration merchants, Shopify handles all payments, meaning they manage the secure handling, processing, and movement of payment data. Recharge uses Shopify’s payment system for subscription billing. If there are issues with PAN migrations, merchants need to contact Shopify Support directly, as Recharge cannot resolve payment processing issues.
A PAN migration only transfers payment data into Shopify Payments. It does not migrate subscriptions. Once the PAN migration is complete, you must also migrate your subscription data in Recharge. This includes:
Exporting your subscription data
Updating product/variant IDs to match the new store
Updating Shopify payment method IDs created during the PAN migration
Importing subscriptions into the destination store
