Migrating legacy payment methods directly into Shopify Payments using PAN migrations
Shopify offers the ability to migrate legacy payment methods directly into Shopify Payments. This is different from migrating legacy payment method tokens into Shopify for use in a legacy/secondary processor. This process involves moving credit card primary account numbers (PAN) from a legacy third-party processor to your Shopify Payments card vault. This same process can be utilized to move Shopify Payment methods between two Shopify stores.

Before you start
While this process can offer the ability to migrate your business to Shopify, consolidate payments to a single processor (Shopify Payments), and support the migration of subscribers between Shopify Checkout Integration stores, there are key things that need to be considered before undertaking this type of project.
Understanding PAN migrations
For Shopify Checkout Integration merchants, Shopify handles all payments, meaning they manage the secure handling, processing, and movement of payment data. Recharge uses Shopify’s payment system for subscription billing. If there are issues with PAN migrations, merchants need to contact Shopify Support directly, as Recharge cannot resolve payment processing issues.
