How to configure fallback contents for Bundles

Fallback contents are default selections added to a bundle if the bundle contents are empty when the charge processes. Configuring fallback contents ensures all bundle customers receive products in their bundle even if they don't select products to bundle before their charge date.

Step 1 - Build your bundle

Step 2 - Configure your fallback contents

Recharge recommends configuring fallback contents for all customizable bundles to prevent customers from receiving empty bundles. Bundle contents can be empty for the following reasons:

  • The customer purchases a bundle through the customer portal instead of checkout
  • The customer swaps to a bundle through the customer portal and fails to make bundle contents

Configure the fallback content after creating your bundle: 

  1. On the Review your bundle page, locate Fallback contents and click Edit.
  2. Click Edit fallback contents to configure fallback contents.
  3. Click + Add more products to launch a list of your bundle products. 
  4. Adjust the quantities for the products you want to use as fallback contents. 
  5. Click Add product to confirm the selection.
  6. Click Continue and save. 
  7. Click Done.

Expected outcome

After configuring fallback contents, customers receive a bundle product even if they don't make selections before their charge date. This ensures customers receive products without delay, while also preventing any loss of sales.
