Can I link a custom customer portal to update payment methods in my Failed Payment Recovery notifications?
Shopify Checkout integration
Migrated Shopify Checkout Integration
You can include a link to your custom customer portal in your Failed Payment Recovery notifications so that customers can access your portal, and you can leverage Recharge's Failed Payment Recovery analytics.
After you add a custom URL to your email notification in the Failed Payment Recovery builder, Recharge updates the notification variable to {{ custom_portal_url }}
in your notifications so that customers are sent to your custom customer portal.
Note: Affinity, Novum, Prima, and Theme Engine are considered standard customer portals.
Add your custom customer portal URL when building your Failed Payment Recovery strategy:
- Select Retain in the Recharge merchant portal and click Failed Payment Recovery.
- Click Create New to create a new Failed Payment Recovery strategy.
- Select No, I use a custom customer portal that is hosted outside of Recharge under Do you use one of Recharge's standard customer portals? and add your Custom URL in the textbox.
- Select Save and continue to save your changes.
- Select the pencil icon next to an email notification.
- Click Edit email body.
- Review the notification to confirm that it includes the variable
{{ custom_portal_url}}
.
Warning: You must provide a static link. Recharge recommends implementing a cookie-based solution that directs logged-in customers to the payment methods page and redirects others to the account login page first for a seamless customer experience.
