How do prepaid gift subscriptions work with charge expiration settings?
You can configure prepaid subscriptions to expire after a set number of charges. When the final charge processes, the subscription expires immediately. At that point the system considers the prepaid subscription cancelled, even if it still has queued shipment orders remaining.
For example, consider a prepaid subscription set to deliver every 3 months and expire after one charge. The initial charge occurs at checkout. The system then creates the three-month shipments as free orders with no additional charges. Because the subscription reaches its charge limit at checkout, it expires immediately after the first charge, even though future shipments remain scheduled.
