Transitioning from Theme Engine to Affinity
The Recharge Theme Engine is moving to End of Support as of December 31, 2025. Merchants using this system must transition to the Affinity customer portal, which provides an intuitive interface and expanded customization options.
It is highly recommended to review and upgrade your store before the deadline. This guide outlines what to expect during the transition.
Before you start
- You cannot switch back once you transition to the Affinity customer portal.
- If you are a managed account, contact your CSM to begin the transition process.
Transitioning to Affinity
Once you are ready to transition:
- Review Using the Affinity customer portal.
- Ensure your development team or Recharge partner is aware of any customization changes.
- To solve for any customizations you have on your Theme Engine, see Customizing the Affinity customer portal theme and Using advanced customizations in Affinity.
Note: Customizations requiring custom code are not supported by Recharge as per the Design and Integration policy. Recharge recommends working with a certified Recharge partner if you require developer assistance. For further advanced customizations, see the Affinity customer portal developer documentation.
Benefits
- Increased compatibility with Recharge Bundles.
- Increased flexibility and control over the subscription creation and management experience through Product Subscription Plans.
- Customization through the Shopify Theme editor with the Subscription Widget.
- Content extensions to personalize Affinity with custom content.
- Seamless customization to the appearance and default functionality of the Affinity portal.
